About Champneys
Founded in 1925 by the pioneering naturopath Stanley Lief, Champneys* began as the Nature Cure Resort, the UK's first health farm. As Lief claimed to have healed himself of what was thought of as an incurable heart condition through diet and osteopathy, patients quickly visited the resort from far and wide to improve their health and well-being.
Over the years, Champneys has expanded in both success and reputation, combining ancient practices with ultra-modern methods to nourish the mind, body and soul.
With four countryside health spa resorts, two luxury spa hotels and two high-street city spas, it boasts a list of notable patrons including Kylie Minogue, Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Judi Dench, Brad Pitt and Naomi Campbell.
Champneys offers a wide range of wellness experiences including spa days, spa breaks, wellbeing retreats and fitness camps.
Along with innovative face and body massages and treatments, a typical Champneys encounter also provides the opportunity to use state-of-the-art swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms, exercise studios, relaxation spaces and high-tech thermal experiences. Delicious, healthy and nutritionist-approved meals are also available.
Champneys also has a successful line of beauty and skincare products and launched the Champneys International College of Health and Beauty in 1976. It's now considered one of the UK's leading beauty therapy training colleges.
Why visit Champneys?

It also caters for weddings, afternoon tea, meetings and conferences; you can even play a round of golf at the spa's impressive 18-hole, Par 72 Championship course at its Mottram Hall*, Cheshire, which was awarded '5 Bubble Luxury' status by the Good Spa Guide.

Champneys FAQs
When is payment required for a Champneys booking?
All spa days, stays and retreatments require full payment upon booking*.
Meanwhile, any additional charges such as food and drinks are payable on departure from the resort or hotel and a pre-authorisation is required upon check-in. Please note that all Champneys' properties are cashless and require card payments.
What should I wear at Champneys?
You'll be given a towelling robe on arrival for you to wear during the day. Most guests tend to wear a swimsuit underneath.
You can wear the towelling robe for any treatments*, in relaxation areas, and for breakfast and lunch; however, a smart/casual dress code is in place for evening meal reservations. Please note that Champneys takes a deposit for the robes, which will be refunded at the end of your stay.
As well as a towelling robe, guests are provided with a complimentary pair of anti-slip tested and certified flip flops, which are recommended for wear around pool areas.
If you're using the gym or attending class, a pair of trainers or other suitable footwear is recommended. You'll be requested to bring two pairs of trainers if using indoor and outdoor areas.
What happens in the evenings at Champneys?
A variety of talks on well-being topics take place each evening as well as occasionally live music; bars with extensive wine lists and cocktails are available at all Champneys spa resorts and hotels*.
