About Leeds Castle

Leeds Castle is Kent's leading attraction and a must-do for anybody visiting the area. It stands on islands in a lake formed by the River Len, seven miles southeast of Maidstone.

The castle standing there today was built during the early 19th century but records show there has been a castle on the land since 857 BCE with King Edward I residing there in the 13th century and Henry VIII using it as a home for his first wife, Catherine of Aragon, in the 16th century.
