Ghana weather overview
Ghana lies in West Africa, bordered by Burkina Faso, Togo and the Ivory Coast and with a coastline on the Gulf of Guinea. The south of the country has two rainy seasons - May/June and [October - while its northern reaches get their rains between May and September.
An odd quirk of Ghana's climate is that its coastline is dryer than inland areas - probably because of a cool ocean current which runs in the same direction as winds prevalent in the rainy season. This, however, does little to mitigate humidity, which is high throughout the country year-round and particularly trying in the summer months.
What to pack for Ghana weather
Lightweight clothing made from natural fibres is most appropriate with a light raincoat for the rainy months.
