Nepal weather overview
This tiny country, which nestles in the Himalayas, has Everest, the world's highest mountain, within its borders. It also has a region of lowland, so weather conditions vary according to which part of Nepal you visit. In the high mountains, there is snow and ice throughout the year but a tropical climate prevails in the foothills.
The monsoon rains arrive in June and last until September, bringing with them a period of muggy, cloudy weather. From October to April, the weather is sunny and warm, although lowland nights are cold and temperatures can fall to freezing in the depths of winter.
What to pack for Nepal weather
Take light clothing and rainwear in the summer months, light to warm attire for spring and autumn in the foothills and heavier clothes if you are going up into the mountains or visiting in mid-winter.
