English Heritage unveils spooky Halloween events for all the family

Thanks to its portfolio of ancient castles, grand houses and ruined abbeys, English Heritage has plenty of venues to host spooky Halloween events^* for all ages.

There are family-friendly events^* such as the new adventure trails for kids at numerous properties based on Cressida Cowell's bestselling series, The Wizards of Once. Hear scary stories on a guided woodland walk at the likes of Brodsworth Hall, Walmer Castle or Wrest Park, or visit creepy castles such as Goodrich Castle, Carlisle Castle or Dover Castle.

For big kids over the age of 16, there's also a variety of after dark events^* at numerous English Heritage locations. From discovering the history of Halloween and costumes to finding out why we used to carve turnips instead of pumpkins, there's plenty to learn as well.

Whether you opt to see Whitby Abbey illuminated^*, go on a ghost tour of Deal Castle^* or a woodland walk at Audley End^*, book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment. Most events are free for members, although some will require a small fee.
