Jet2 data shows a reassuring boost in consumer confidence

Travelling has never been so challenging and many would-be holidaymakers have been put off trying to escape the UK owing to concerns over the amount of hassle involved, cost of testing and uncertainty regarding the traffic light system.

However, in good news, Jet2.com^* and Jet2holidays^* have released data from a recent poll that shows people are, now, feeling more confident about travelling once again. In fact, 62% of respondents said they felt confident and eager to get away as soon as possible, which is the highest level since early 2020.

Some are still feeling cautious: 22% said they did not feel confident about travelling, although this figure is far lower than it has been over the past few weeks and months.

The latest official government update, which is due to come into force on 4 October 2021, has also boosted confidence, with the removal of PCR tests and the unpredictable nature of the traffic light system changing.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have seen an increase of 250% in bookings since the latest announcement with 17 September being the busiest day of the year for the holiday company and associated great value airline. What's more, the company restarted its operations in Turkey^* this week, with Antalya^* and Dalaman^* receiving the first excited holidaymakers on 23 September 2021.

Commenting on the data Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: "Last week's announcement is the news that customers have been waiting for. The removal of the traffic light system and costly testing burdens, alongside the reopening of key destinations such as Turkey, means that customers can really plan and look forward to their holidays.

"We knew that confidence and demand would bounce back very sharply once the onerous and unfair restrictions were removed, and our best day for sales this year shows that this is very much the case."
