Taiwan weather overview
Taiwan, which lies off the coast of China, is a mountainous island with lowlands in its west. It is a land of hot, rainy summers and pleasantly cool but rainy winters. The heaviest rains fall between June and October, when Taiwan is frequently hit by typhoons blowing in from the South China Sea and bringing high winds and torrential downpours in their wake.
In northern Taiwan, poor weather continues into the winter months, when heavy cloud and rain frequently engulf the coasts.
What to pack for Taiwan weather
Take light clothing to alleviate the hot, humid summer conditions, and warmer wear for the winter. Always go prepared for rain.
